RedDrum & Hatteras

As the original inhabitants of Hatteras Island, the Croatan Native Americans thrived as a fishing village. One of their primary sources of food was redfish, also known in North Carolina as Red Drum. The locals named these fish Red Drum because of the drum sound they produce from their swim bladders. English settlers first arrived on the island in the late 1500’s but encountered many challenges due to disease and pirates. The first English settlement was established in the 1700’s. Today, Hatteras Island is recognized as one of the top 10 beaches in the US as well as holding the world record for the largest caught redfish, at 94lb. 2oz. The island welcomes millions of visitors each year that come to enjoy the unique beaches and many with the hope of catching the next world record. As someone who loves the outdoors, our CEO James Rainey and his wife Lisa purchased a home in Hatteras North Carolina with the dream of emerging themselves into this beautiful environment. They also recognized that the entire Outer Banks is a historically underutilized businesses zone (HUBZONE) that would welcome new businesses which support the local economy. We are committed to giving back to Hatteras Island and generating new opportunities for those that call Hatteras Island home.
